Premium Installation Service

We deliver high specification installation, ensuring that your patio lasts...

Not all resin driveways or patios are up to the job. The finish may look great, but it's what's under the resin that really matters. The sub-base is vital if your project is going to last and deal with extreme weather systems that we have in the UK. Too many companies skip vital installation steps or install sub-standard sub-bases. We don't do this and here's why:
Some companies cut corners TO SAve money. We don't:

The Resin Installation Process

150mm Type 3 MOT

Compacted in layers, we install 150mm type 3 MOT. Type 3 is important because it allows natural drainage through the surface. Kerb, edges, borders and restraints are also installed at this stage.

50mm Porous Tarmac

Next we install 50mm open porous tarmac. Like Type 3 MOT, it allows water to naturally pass through the base and drain. This is compliant with a SUDS system and does not require planning.

Resin Finish

We install resin patios to a minimum depth of 18mm. There are now 100s of colour choices available. You can have seperate colours for borders and features.

Resin is considered a superior choice for driveways and patios because it combines durability, appearance and low maintenance in one long-lasting surface. Unlike traditional concrete or block paving, resin-bound surfaces are resistant to cracking, weeds, and loose stones, while also being permeable, allowing water to drain naturally and helping to reduce puddles and surface water build-up.

Resin driveways and patios also offer a sleek, modern finish with a huge range of colours and aggregate blends to complement any property style. The smooth surface is slip-resistant, UV-stable, and easy to maintain, making it ideal for the elderley, or those who need a non-slip continuous surface. When installed professionally using high-quality materials from trusted suppliers like Vuba and Daltex (which we use), resin provides an attractive, hard-wearing surface that can last for many years with minimal upkeep.

LIke all driveways and patio installers there are some unscrupulous companies out there who will cut corners or miss important steps.

A resin driveway / patio with us is installed as follows:

Excavate depth to allow for 150mm hard core - type 3 mot. Follows by the installation of 50mm open porous tarmac. Then the final resin surface will be either a minimum of 18mm for a patio, or 25mm for a driveway.

Kerb, edges  and any block pavers will be installed at the same time as the sub-base, to ensure the area has strong borders to prevent surface spread.

Curing time: Do not walk on your new Resin Bound surface for 24- 48 hours, and do not drive on resin for 48-72 hours after installation. These times are temperature dependent and we would recommend you always follow the installer’s advice for exact timings.

Cleaning Practices: It’s very good practice to clean your Resin Bound surface regularly. And for lighter colours, it will be even more important to carry out regular cleaning. Resin Bound Surfaces can be power washed, it is recommended to have the lance at a 90 degree angle and at least 300mm from the surface. Cleaning too close can cause aggregates to be dislodged.

Oil, Dirt & Detritus: Oil can penetrate readily into hard surfacing materials (particularly lubricating or fuel oil), but it should not stain if any spillages are removed promptly with an absorbent material. If the stain persists then an emulsifying degreaser should be employed. Prolonged contact with any solvents should be avoided, contact Vuba for advice if you cannot remove the stain.

Rust can occur from two sources. Typically, rusting is caused by leaching from BBQ’s, flower baskets, and other metal garden items. Care should be taken to ensure these do not leach on to the resin surface. Naturally occurring aggregates in Resin Bound can contain pyrite, which upon exposure to rain, dew etc. can begin to rust. Unfortunately this is an aspect of Resin Bound surfacing which although very rare, can happen naturally. Either cause of rusting can be cleaned using Non-Acidic Rust Stain Remover. Please follow manufacturer instructions for more information. Tyre Marks can normally be removed by steam cleaning, or by scrubbing the area with detergent and hot water.

Unadvisable. Take care not to drop heavy equipment on tthe driveway or patio, such as the placement of skips. Also be aware - skips can often leach rust on to your driveway which you may not be able to clean. In addtion to skips, you really must not use a car jack on resin as this will depress the surface of Resin Bound and should be placed on a wooden board for load distribution.

Petrol, solvents etc. should not come into contact with resin surfacing ideally. In the event of spillages, dilute and clean immediately. Solvents and some chemicals will degrade the resin binder, resulting in stone loosening over a period of time.

Like all paving surfaces, Resin Bound will discolour if covered long term permanently with a close contact object. Discolouration occurs from leaching and lack of exposure to air/sunlight. An example would be a flat bottom plant pot or a storage box. Use raised plant pots, and do not store items like storage boxes on the surface.

A great way to extend the life of your driveway is by sealing the surface after a deep clean. This can be done using a diluted polyurethane UV resin sealer – contact your installer for more information. A good time to carry out this enhancement would be 2-4 years after installation of the resin surface.

No. Pressure exerted from static turning can dislodge surface aggregates. Once the matrix has broken, the surface will weaken and break away. It is very important that vehicle wheels are not turned when static or slow moving, and small turning circles should be eliminated in the driveway design.
